REF. 11
Flexography is the technique used to provide relief to the surfaces of the packaging, since it uses a flexible plate with relief, enhancing the printed parts on the non-printed areas.
The results and quality of the entire process are truly optimal, so the quality of the products that have gone through this operation exceeds many of its alternatives.
WHAT IS A SCREEN-PRINTED BOX?
If you wonder what screen-printed boxes are, it is as simple as those containers, generally cardboard, to which the screen-printing technique is applied to personalize them with images, texts and other details that contribute the most to spreading and improving the image. brand to the public.
In the case of flexographic printing, the ink adheres to the cardboard or paper by means of a flexible cliché, drying quickly, which is why it is an increasingly widespread printing method.
This printing method is very versatile and can be applied to any material but, as we have said, cardboard is the best option, taking into account its great properties. WHAT IS FLEXOGRAPHY?
The flexo printing technique uses a plate known as a cliché and made of photopolymer. Being flexible, it has the ability to adapt to a wide variety of surfaces. One of the most common supports on which this technique is used is corrugated cardboard, as well as plastic surfaces.
THE MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF FLEXOGRAPHY
The ink used for this printing method is liquid, with a great capacity for fast drying. This phenomenon is what makes it possible to print large volumes at very affordable costs, as long as it is compared with other alternatives.
In addition, whenever flexography is applied to poorly absorbent supports, such as coated papers or UV varnishes, it is essential to use dryers inside the printer. The beginning of the process is based on the preparation of the flexible plate with a UV light treatment, since the components of the plate are photosensitive.
It is made from a highly contrasted negative of the image to be printed, placing it on the photosensitive component. The combination of the negative and the UV rays are what model the plate, generating parts with relief.
The plate is placed on the roller and inked by touching another ceramic or steel roller known as an anilox. The roller is full of small cavities that will fill with ink and, when turned, will impregnate the embossed surface and leave the support with the desired design. Among the main advantages of flexography, the following stand out:
- It is very suitable for large volume orders.
- Consumables are cheaper than other alternatives.
- It is very versatile, since it can print designs on various supports.
- The speed with which these machines work is one of the most appreciated benefits of this technique.
- Flexography allows you to control different processes at the same time, such as printing, die-cutting and laminating.
However, as in the rest of the alternatives, it is also associated with some disadvantages, such as the fact that the precision of the printing, being an uneven surface, is not very high.
It should also be noted that the contours and dimensions are more limited than in other printing alternatives, such as gravure or offset, due to the characteristics of the plate.
The machines that we use to print using flexography at LFG Cartonaje are state-of-the-art, in search of results that meet or exceed expectations.
IN WHAT CASES IS IT USED?
As we have previously mentioned, corrugated cardboard is one of the most common products on which flexographic printing is applied.
It is also important to bet on flexography in cases where you need to extract results with intense and bright tones. Another of the results that can be most appreciated from this technique are self-adhesive roll labels, which can be printed on paper, films and plastics.
Many packages that can be seen on the market have resorted to flexography, such as corrugated cardboard, paper bags, films and plastic bags. Other examples of supports made with flexography and that are the order of the day are napkins, toilet paper, newspapers or folding cartons, among others.
